Trauma treatment

Are you reliving past experience? Are you struggling with childhood memory? Do you suffer feelings of guilt, shame, fear no knowing what makes you feel this way?

What is ”big T” and “small T”?

“big-T” traumas – such as combat or terrorist attacks, domestic o community violence, serious accident, natural disasters, sexual or physical abuse, life-threatening illness, and unexpected loss – that would deeply affect most anyone.” (Baldwin and Korn, p.32, 2021)

“little-t” traumas might also come with a divorce, losing a job, a difficult move, the discovery of your partner’s affair, or neglect and emotional abuse from childhood.” (Baldwin and Korn, p.33, 2021)

Trauma can manifest in various ways, including:

  • Flashbacks or Intrusive Thoughts: Reliving the traumatic event or experiencing unwanted thoughts about it.

  • Emotional Numbness: Difficulty feeling emotions or connecting with others.

  • Hypervigilance: Being easily startled, feeling tense, or having difficulty relaxing.

  • Avoidance: Steering clear of reminders of the trauma or avoiding certain places or people.

  • Difficulty with Trust: Struggling to trust others or feeling unsafe in relationships

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): "EMDR involves processing traumatic memories through guided eye movements, helping to reduce their emotional charge and integrate them in a healthier way."
